Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants.
Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as one of the city walls is damaged by a 60 meter giant causing a breach in the wall. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as Eren's mother is eaten alive.Unable to save her , Eren vows that he will wipe out every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind.

Won the 35th Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shounen Manga.

I started to read when I saw the huge numbers of reviews about this series and I must say I don't regret.
Here are the reasons:

You see, this whole story of "revenge a family member", "tragedy happening all the time" and "the odds seem to be always against the heroes" might be repeated but SnK mix this with characters with unique personalities and a captivating storyline. The drawn might not be the best that there is, but you can still know what is going on in the action scenes. Though it's not described, it still have some comedy scenes, very rare but still appear, unless of course you have a huge cruel sense of humor and laugh to the dozens of people dying almost every chapter. For those fans of Gantz, Highschool of Dead, Cage of Eden, etc. who like of this thing of people dying in the house of dozens might have some interest, except that there is no "fanservice". and, finally, the good part of this manga is that there is a lot of pages (35-50) in only one chapter, this is something that miss for those who normally read semanal-release manga, but serves to compensate the huge time to release another chapter, since it's a monthly-release manga.

So concluding: those who don't have much to read this days might like to read SnK, if you are considering what I said in this review, and I hope I make myself clear.
