Everyone needs a reminder from time to time. I do, you do, all of us do. I'd like to remind you why one piece is one of the best shounen manga out there.

1. The story: It's selling point has always been the setting. Almost everybody who reads this is just thrilled by its pirate theme. a group of young people setting out to sea to find a rare treasure sounds joyous and adventurous.
The huge plus (and, for some people, huge drawback) is the fact that the storyline does not solely develope around the main protagonists but, at much faster pace, around them. They never fail to make an impact in it, but it resolves around them either way.

2. The characters: Each and everyone of them has a deep, yet easily understandable background on which he or she acts accordingly. One may find them a bit too linear but please be mindful: this is shounen! It's meant for young and teenage boys. I don't like to underestimate teens, but making the getup too complex would set some of them certainly of. If you want a complex character developement read War and Peace, don't stick to shounen manga.

3. The Art: The chapters are almost all the time drawn in a consistent and appealing matter, there is no roughness about it, no hasty pictures and they show very much detail and reappearing features in characters and scenary.

IMO, the only really annoying thing about one piece is it's pace. Oda takes his sweet time more often the not, to a point when the series is on hiatus every other week. When it's actually there it cold progress a little faster and don't lose itself in sometimes unnecessary background info of site characters.

Nonetheless, it's a great read and allover very entertaining, so don't miss out!
