Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family, but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits, and along with Rukia, who is slowly regaining her powers, it's Ichigo's job to both protect the innocent from Hollows and to help the spirits themselves find peace.

Won the 50th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shounen category.

Tite Kubo took the world by storm with the introduction of a naturally red-haired japanese teen who could see ghosts. Drawing upon a wealth of Shinto and Buddhist ideas, the author crafted a masterpiece which, considered separately from the anime, stands in the annals of shonen history. Adhering to a semi-rigid power hierarchy, the series attempts to not fall prey to Goku syndrome - something the author has failed to do on occasion. Nevertheless, this series has produced a loveable cast of characters that draw in the reader. The art is simply amazing.

Now that we know that Bleach is coming to an end, there is a huge mounting pressure in the manga world. With the intensity currently unfolding among the Big Four, Bleach has openly declared war on the other three. The scenes are incredibly intense, and the enemy has been established as the Quincy. I'm overwhelmingly excited, and would offer this prediction: We are finally going to learn the dirty secret of Kurosaki and Ishida's dads. How do they know each other? I predict Kurosaki was the one who executed to Qunicy cleansing. In order to pull it off, Kurosaki's father reached out to Ishida's to get the intel on the Quincy - probably using a front. Isshin loses his powers somehow as a result of the massacre, and Ishida swears off the Shinigami forever. That's what I think.
